New Themes and New Opportunities Await Women Coders at TechGig Geek Goddess Third Edition

With its third consecutive edition, TechGig Geek Goddess aims to bring the unsung women coders into forefront and present a bevy of latent talent to tech employers. This year’s edition hosts three new exciting coding genres – UI, Data Science & IoT – and hence expands the scope of participation for women coders. Here’s more…

The ‘diversity harbours talent’ tenet is now a well-accepted fact on the corporate floors. Hence the race to bring more diverse talent to the work floor and retain it. Industry reports suggest that even conventional industrial segments like manufacturing and production have ramped up the strength of their women workforce divisively. Therefore, many novice women-friendly policies and practices like pre-planned work sabbaticals and return to work, flexi timings, work-from-home and others are often announced.

This is just one part of the story. The other part – and more critical one – is to groom the existing talent in academia and encourage them to seek careers of their choice. The endeavour should be to bring the latent talent to limelight, thereby creating a win-win situation for students and employers. Increasingly both the academia and industry are collaborating to work cohesively on this front. India’s premier tech assessment and learning platform TechGig is a perfect case study here.

TechGig’s Geek Goddess has become a flagship brand to bring women coders to limelight, both among the industry and academia. For the last two consecutive years, TechGig Geek Goddess has brought thousands of women coders to the limelight and given them a chance to showcase their potential to peers and employers. As last year’s TechGig Geek Goddess 2nd Edition winner Bharti Kukreja said, “It was extremely difficult but I cracked it at the end. It makes me believe that nothing is impossible. Loved the experience”.

This year TechGig Geek Goddess announced its third edition, all eyes were set on the new coding themes introduced purposely to expand the horizon for women coders. Discussing the new themes, Dipti Tandon, Head of Product & Technology, TechGig and Vice President, Corporate Strategy, Times Internet Ltd said, “We have introduced three new coding themes in this edition of TechGig Geek Goddess namely –  UI, Data Science & IoT. These will open new arenas of participation for women coders.” Year after year, TechGig invites women coders across the country to showcase their talent. In all these years, this event has been able to create a stir in the technology community and the swelling numbers of participants and organising partners is a testimony to this fact.

Ramathreya Krishnamurthi, Business Head, TimesJobs and TechGig wished well to the new edition. “Every year thousands of women coders submit their codes at the TechGig Geek Goddess. These participants range from students of premiere technology institutes to women from IT companies, and their passion and commitment towards coding and their careers at large is inspiring. I hope the new edition of TechGig Geek Goddess will again bring in a slew of terrific ideas on board and bring new women tech talent to the fore,” he said.

TechGig Geek Goddess has about 4,000 registrations till date. The winners take home a collective prize of Rs 7.5 lakh. The code submission started on November 10 @ https://www.techgig.com/geekgoddess
